Second Annual Back-to-School Workshop Features Murray Banks

(ABERDEEN,
SD) The School of Education at Northern State University and Project
ENRICH, a State Improvement Grant facilitated by NSU in cooperation
with the North Central Special Education Cooperative, are pleased to
host the Second Annual Back-to-School workshop on Mon, Aug. 18, from
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Theater on
Northern’s campus, and Tue, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the High
School Theater in Huron.
The Back-to-School workshop is a day of professional development for
area educators. There is no charge for the workshop, and all
interested parents, teachers, coaches, and caregivers are encouraged
to attend.
This year’s workshop will be presented by Murray Banks, a nationally
recognized educator and presenter who has inspired and challenged
fellow educators for 23 years. Workshop participants will be
provided with strategies for enhancing motivation and increasing
student performance.
Graduate and undergraduate credit will be available with related
coursework to be completed during the Fall 08 semester. Students can
utilize the externally supported tuition rate of $43.20 per credit
hour.
“The Back-to-School workshop provides a unique opportunity for area
educators to come together in preparation for the start of the new
school year,” said Dr. Tom Hawley, Dean of the NSU School of
Education. “We are honored to host these workshops in partnership
with K-12 educators and administrators from the region. We are
thrilled with the overwhelming response to this event. To date,
nearly 1100 educators have registered for the workshop at the two
locations.”
