NSU E-Learning Center Offers Training to Mentors

Released August 11, 2008

(ABERDEEN, SD) The Center for Statewide E-learning at Northern State University hosted its eighth annual e-mentor training session Mon, Aug. 11, on the NSU campus. The E-learning Center offers 36 daily classes via distance technology and nine daily online class sections in 15 subjects to high school students throughout the state.

Training also consisted of instruction in the use of the distance education technology, such as Polycom and Digital Dakota Network (DDN).

The center’s master teachers who will provide instruction for students over the distance network participated in the training, meeting and working with the e-mentors. The master teachers are Joanna Case-Goetz, Spanish; Mary Cundy, AP Calculus; Kami Fischbach, math; Steve Gough, Spanish; Carleen Jaspers, Spanish; Gayla Martens, Spanish; Deanna Mauck, AP English; Leslie McLaughlin, AP U.S. history and French; Jacki Omland, science; David Pierson, math and science; Karen Rosby, Spanish; and Paula Wetenkamp, Spanish.
