ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host a March 6 event that aims to prepare students with disabilities for a stress-free transition into college.
“Catch the Wave” will take place in the NSU Student Center Centennial Rooms. Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Human Services' Transition Services Liaison Project.
Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. The cost is $5 per person for lunch.
The event will introduce students to many aspects of college life by providing the opportunities to engage a panel of current NSU students, take campus tours, and learn about financial aid, among many other activities.
NSU professors and students plan to address common concerns of a college student, discussing how to utilize campus resources and promoting self-advocacy. Representatives from various agencies from NSU, Presentation College and Lake Area Technical Institute will be available during an information fair.
To register in advance, contact Cindy Kirschman or call 605-626-2398.
