Dominant 7 reunion offers brassy blast from past
ABERDEEN, S.D. – The NSU trumpet and rhythm group Dominant 7 will hold a
reunion concert and trumpet clinic Saturday, Oct. 12.
 
 
Evening Concert at The Ward Hotel
The concert will begin at 9 p.m. in the Ward Hotel Grand Ballroom. The doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $3. The concert will feature returning Dominant 7 alumni, including Doug Woolverton; Reid Johnson, director of the Groton High School Band; Brooks Bowman, director of the Kimball High School Band; James Reed, director of the White Lake High School Bands; Jared Opp, director of the Gregory High School Bands; and Ben Chambers, director of the Patrick Henry Middle School Bands.
 
 
Alumni, Current Group Both Perform
Alumni will perform their own pieces, and then join the current Dominant 7 group which, directed by NSU’s Dr. Grant Manhart, includes nine brass, including two trombones.
 
 
Trumpet Clinic Open to Public
The clinic will be at 1 p.m. in the band room of the Johnson Fine Arts Center. It is free and open to the public, students and directors. The clinic will demonstrate the ideas and concepts of legendary Indiana University trumpet teacher William Adam, who turns 96 this month.
