ABERDEEN, S.D. – If you can’t take it with you, donate it!
Northern State University’s Residence Life Department will collect donations for various Aberdeen-area charities throughout finals week, April 29-May 3.
For more than half a decade, Residence Life’s Green Move Out has accepted gently used furniture, clothing, electronics and other items, as well as nonperishable foods. This allows students who have accumulated more things than they can take home an opportunity to contribute to the Aberdeen community and people in need. In the past, donations have been delivered to Safe Harbor, Roncalli Nearly New, The Salvation Army, the Aberdeen Area Humane Society and other organizations.
In addition to donating items, students are also offered the opportunity to donate any unused flex dollars or meals. This money is used to purchase a bulk order through Aramark, which is then donated to The Salvation Army’s food shelf.
This year, we tell students “don’t be trashy” – don’t throw away items that can be used by someone else, and don’t donate something that’s trash.
