NSU Honors Breakfast will be Saturday morning
ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University 2012 Winter Commencement Academic Honors Breakfast will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the NSU Student Center Centennial Rooms.
The event honors students earning baccalaureate degrees with academic honors, including: In Honoribus, Summa Cum Laude (G.P.A. 3.90-4.00), Magna Cum Laude (G.P.A. 3.70-3.89) and Cum Laude (G.P.A. 3.50-3.69). Also honored are those students with associate degree academic honors of Highest Honor (G.P.A. 3.90-4.00), High Honor (G.P.A. 3.70-3.89) and Honor (G.P.A. 3.50-3.69).

The highest academic honor awarded by Northern State University is the granting of the degree In Honoribus. It is granted to baccalaureate degree students who successfully complete the Honors Program and maintain a 3.5 grade point average in all their coursework. The Honors Program is a combination of special honors courses and a senior honors thesis or project. The senior thesis is guided and reviewed by a faculty committee in much the same way as a master’s degree thesis.

In Honoribus graduates, thesis topics and thesis advisers:

Ashli M. Billington, Challenges of Converging IFRS and U.S GAAP; honors thesis adviser: Professor Scott Peterson; committee members: Dr. Sara Schmidt and Dr. Erin Fouberg.

Katy A. Durst, NSU Finance and Administration Department Policies; honors thesis adviser: Dr. James Kennedy; committee members: Vice President Veronica Paulson and Dr. Erin Fouberg.

Lincoln T. Smith, Drought: Managerial Effects on Agricultural Business; honors thesis adviser: Dr. Allen Barclay; committee members: Dr. Doug Ohmer and Dr. Erin Fouberg.
