ABERDEEN, S.D. – An informational meeting is scheduled for people interested in Northern State University’s summer 2013 Italy trip and art course.
The meeting will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Room 205 of Northern’s Dacotah Hall. Anyone, including members of the public, can take the trip and enroll in the course.
The one-credit course is titled “Art in Italy: Past to Present.” The trip will be June 5-15, 2013, and is led by Northern professors Greg Blair and Sara Christensen Blair. Travelers will study the Italian Renaissance in Florence and visit several key artworks:
• Michelangelo's David
• Botticelli's The Birth of Venus
• Leonardo da Vinci's The Annunciation
The trip then continues to Venice, where participants will visit the world's most important contemporary art fair, the Venice Biennale.
Estimated cost is $4,000, including airfare, hotel, breakfasts, transportation, admissions and tuition. A $500 deposit is due by Oct. 15; 22 spots are available.
