ABERDEEN, S.D. – Swisher Field will be rocking with some great football and great music on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, when the NSU Wolves take on Concordia-St. Paul with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
Festivities get under way with a free tailgate for Wolves Club members located on the south end of Swisher Field. Avera St. Luke’s of Aberdeen is the game sponsor and RDO will sponsor the "kids' zone" activities.
This competition will mark the first field performance at half time for the NSU Marching Wolves. The 120-member group will perform three numbers, including “Carry On My Wayward Son,” “Party Rock Anthem” and “Raise Your Glass.”
The NSU Marching Wolves have enjoyed a long and distinguished tradition of excellence at the regional and national level, performing at all home football games; the annual Gypsy Day Parade; regional marching band festivals; and professional football games including the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In recent years, the band has been recognized at the national level. In November 2004, the NSU Marching Wolves were selected as the lone representative from South Dakota and one of only eight collegiate marching bands in the nation to appear in the January 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C. In November 2006, the NSU Marching Wolves represented South Dakota in the 2006 commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Marching Wolves are under the direction of Boyd Perkins, Terry Beckler and Jessica Perkins.
