Northern Fort Playhouse to present ‘Marvelous Wonderettes’ and ‘Perfect Wedding’ in ninth season

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern Fort Playhouse is thrilled to announce the upcoming productions of “The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps And Gowns” and “Perfect Wedding” in its fabulous ninth season of summer theater at historic Fort Sisseton.

Northern students fill most acting roles at Northern Fort Playhouse near Sisseton, and their participation is eligible for college credit. The Playhouse is a collaboration between Fort Sisseton State Park and NSU.

'The Marvelous Wonderettes'

Opening the season is a return to the '50s and '60s and the sweet, fun sounds of girl group “The Marvelous Wonderettes.” This is the second time the Wonderettes will perform at the Northern Fort Playhouse, having last appeared in season six. Three of the original Wonderettes from season six have rejoined the group!

In this delightful return to Fort Sisseton, the Wonderettes are graduating high school and then reuniting 10 years later for a wedding. Audiences will be singing along with classic pop tunes such as “Rock Around the Clock,” “Wishin' and Hopin',” “Dancin’ in the Street” and “Good Lovin,'” among many others.

'Perfect Wedding'

The second offering of the season is “Perfect Wedding,” a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud, door-slamming farce. Comedy ensues when Bill wakes up the morning of his wedding in bed with a girl he can't remember. While trying to keep the girl secret from the bride-to-be, Bill's best friend, Tom, mistakenly identifies the chamber maid as the woman from the night before and tries to pass her off as his own girlfriend to throw the bride off the trail.
