ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will hold its seventh annual “Steps for Shep” 5k run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The NSU PHIT Club and cross country-sponsored event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Barnett Center and finish at the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce building on South Main Street. Participants are encouraged to dress up for the 2013 Gypsy Day theme, “Gypsies on Vacation.” Awards will be presented to the best dressed.
Registration for the 5K will be 7-7:30 a.m. at the Barnett Center before the race. Registration is free to NSU students with a valid ID. General registration is $20 or $15 for Aberdeen Area Running Club members. Registration forms can be downloaded online or picked up at the Barnett Center. Entry fee includes T-shirt and entry for door prizes and awards.
Entries can be mailed to Kevin Bjerke, 1200 S. Jay St., Aberdeen, SD 57401. Mailed entries must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 1. Pre-registration is encouraged.
All proceeds will go toward the Jason Shephard Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit an NSU track and cross country student-athlete majoring in health and physical education.
