ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Women’s Club is hosting several events in celebration of Women’s History Month in March.
March 21 Discussion
Events will include the Women Community Leader Discussion Panel, which will be 7-9 p.m. March 21 in the Jerde Hall café. The panel will include Gina Karst, executive director of Safe Harbor; Danelle Daugherty, tribal government officer; attorney Melissa Neville; Stacy Bauer, Target manager; and Holly Engelhart, Eide Bailly CPA. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Alyssa Kiesow, assistant professor of biology at NSU.
Other events are as follows:
March 11: Women’s History Month booth, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Student Center mall.
March 12: Women’s History Month kick-off banquet, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Missouri River Room.
March 14: “Iron Jawed Angels” (movie), 7 p.m., Johnson Fine Arts Center 134.
March 18: Women’s History Month booth, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Student Center.
March 20: Self-defense workshop with South Dakota Highway Patrol, 6:30-8 p.m., Barnett Center 133 (wrestling room).
March 25: Kramer bra burning, 8 p.m., Kramer/McWelsh green.
March 26: Women’s History Month wrap-up banquet, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Student Center Centennial rooms A and B.
All events are free and open to the public except for the self-defense workshop, which is open to Northern students and employees.
The NSU Women’s Club, which was formed this fall, is a student-run organization with a mission of informing the NSU community about gender inequality, promoting friendship, strengthening bonds of common interests, and offering opportunities for networking among women. The club is collaborating with various organizations on the events, including the American Association of University Women, NSU Multicultural Affairs and NSU Residence Life.
