Confucius Institute Announces Summer in Jinan Program

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State University Confucius Institute has announced their upcoming Summer in Jinan study abroad program.

International Programs and the Confucius Institute are now accepting applications for the Summer in Jinan. 2017 Program. The program offers students a unique opportunity to study abroad in China accompanied by two NSU faculty, Dr. John Long and Dr. John Peterson.

This unique experience will allow students to study abroad from May 18 until June 25 and includes an opportunity to travel to Beijing, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. Students will also have the ability to take in cultural activities such as tai chi and calligraphy.

Students attending will have the ability to take two courses while abroad, taught by NSU instructors. Offered courses include GEOG 132, Physical Geography: Natural Landscapes or ECON 202, Principles of Macroeconomics, as well as a course in Chinese Language. Offered courses will apply towards NSU degree requirements.

Student cost is airfare plus NSU tuition. Guaranteed scholarships will be offered to offset costs. Financial aid applies. Housing, insurance and a stipend will be provided.

Information sessions for the program will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 at noon in the Gold Room and Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. in the Centennial Room.

The application deadline for this program is on Wednesday, March 1.
