ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University has named Mr. Layton Cooper as the new Director of Admissions.

Cooper has served as interim admissions director for several months, and now the position has been made permanent, said NSU President Dr. Tim Downs.

“Layton has excelled in his position of overseeing the day-to-day operations of our NSU Admissions team,” Downs said. “His role is crucial for our university, allowing our vice president of enrollment to focus on our holistic enrollment strategy, and we’re thrilled Layton will continue in this capacity.”

A native of University Park, Ill., Cooper has worked at Northern for three years. His duties for NSU Admissions also currently include overseeing student recruitment east of the Missouri River down through Pierre. Cooper also serves as advisor for NSU’s Multicultural Student Affairs activities.

Cooper said he’s excited to continue as admissions director, helping the university – and students – succeed.

“Northern is a wonderful place to work, with staff and faculty who really care about their students,” Cooper said. “I’m excited about the momentum on campus and within our admissions department, and I look forward to continuing to help our students find success in college and beyond.”
