ABERDEEN, S.D. – Justin Fraase’s duties at Northern State University now include serving as the Vice President of Enrollment, along with maintaining his prior duties in Communications and Marketing. Fraase will take over for Dr. Jeremy Reed, who has resigned his position effective the end of May 2020.

“I’m thrilled to take the recruiting reins from Dr. Reed,” said Fraase. “Jeremy has done an outstanding job; I have big shoes to fill. I have no doubt we will continue our recruitment momentum – Northern and Aberdeen have what it takes to succeed in this competitive environment.”

Reed’s resignation comes during a natural transition in the enrollment cycle, with 2020 seniors finalizing their post-high school decisions.

“I’m very proud of what the team and I have accomplished during my time at Northern,” explained Reed. “We’ve increased the size of our first-year freshman cohort four consecutive years. We also revamped the WolfPACT scholarship program to now include high school GPA, which opened up more scholarship opportunities for prospective students. I will miss the campus community, my friends and coworkers, but my out-of-state family is nearest and dearest to me.”

In his new role as VP of Enrollment, Communications and Marketing, Fraase will continue to lead the Communications and Marketing Department, but will also now oversee the Admissions team, which recently announced Mr. Layton Cooper as its new Director of Admissions. A Dean of Students will be hired to lead Student Affairs.

“I have all the confidence in Justin and Layton Cooper to continue recruiting high caliber students to Northern,” said Dr. Tim Downs, President. “With all the campus building enhancements, along with generous scholarships from donors, we have the recipe for success. I cannot thank Jeremy enough for the work he’s done for our campus. He set the tone for a higher bar of recruitment, which I believe will continue under our new leadership.”
