ABERDEEN, S.D. (May 3, 2017) – Matthew Remmich of Pierre recently became a recipient of the James Madison Graduate Fellowship for the state of South Dakota.

Remmich is majoring in history education. He plans to pursue a Master of Arts degree in history.

According to its website, the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers $24,000 James Madison Graduate Fellowships to individuals desiring to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution at the secondary school level. Remmich will use the fellowship to attend the University of South Dakota and obtain his master’s degree in history with the hopes of becoming a history teacher.

“Dr. Dave Grettler informed me of the fellowship and wrote me a letter of recommendation. I can't thank him enough for his help,” said Remmich.

During his time at Northern, Remmich was involved in History Club, Veteran’s Club as well as the Honors Program.
