Indianapolis – The Northern State University men’s and women’s basketball programs have made it a decade as the NCAA National Attendance leaders at the Division II level. Over that ten year period, the two programs have averaged 3,461 fans on the men’s side and 2,702 fans on the women’s side per home contest.

In 2016-17 the Northern State University men brought in a total of 49,728 fans, averaging 3,552 per game. The Wolves averaged nearly 900 more fans per game than the runner-up, and fellow NSIC opponent Augustana University who came in at 2,661. As a league the Northern Sun came in second behind the MIAA averaging 1,157 fans per game across the board.

Likewise, the NSU women brought in a total of 37,835 fans total, averaging 2,910 per game. The topped the next closest institution, Fort Hays State, by nearly 700 fans as the Tigers average 2,222 fans per game. The NSIC again came in as the runner-up behind the MIAA, averaging 866 fans per game. Even more impressively, the Wolves women sit in the top-40 nationally across all NCAA Divisions behind North Carolina State which average 2,912 fans per game.

The Northern State women kick off the 2017-18 home season on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. versus Dakota Wesleyan, while the NSU men will host Jamestown at 7 p.m. on the 17th.
