FACULTY DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES

ELIGIILITY:

#1. All tenure track or full time term contract faculty are eligible for funding.

#2. Presentation of scholarly work at international, national, or regional professional meetings (to be considered throughout each fiscal year). An abstract of the presentation is required and will be included in an annual faculty publication (see abstract guidelines below).

#3. The above funding will be at the following rates:
       a) $300 funding for travel in South Dakota;
       b) $600 funding for travel to all other states in the lower 48.
       c) $800 funding for travel outside the lower 48.

FOR ALL TRAVEL, PLEASE NOTE:

** Faculty members are encouraged to also use available departmental travel funds.
** Funding approval will be dependent upon the merits of the proposal.
** Verification of participation at the meeting must accompany request for reimbursement.
** All funded travel for the fiscal year must be completed by April 30.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION INCLUDES 3 ITEMS:

1. Completed Application Form
2. Letter of Acceptance from conference or organization (may be submitted later; money reserved pending acceptance)
3. Abstract of paper or presentation:
    **The abstract should conform to the following format:
        1. Name, rank, and academic discipline;
        2. Title of the paper;
        3. Audience presented to, place and date of presentation;
        4. Length:150-250 words; and,
        5. Accessibility:reader-friendly -- comprehensible to professionals in other disciplines.
