Greetings from the Northern State University campus police officer. I would like to address the most frequently asked question right away: yes, I am a real police officer. My primary duties include watching out for the personal safety of the student body and their belongings. I am also responsible for the security of the buildings on the campus and to protect the property of NSU. I oversee "Operation Registration", which allows students to keep a list of their personal property on file in my office to aid in recovery if the valuables are ever lost or stolen. I also occasionally write articles for the Exponent, NSU's school newspaper, and present programs to help students make themselves less likely to be victims of crime.
While on campus, I have tried to remove the stigma surrounding law enforcement and students. I have made every effort to meet as many of the students as possible, talk with them and try to make them feel at ease with me. I am more than willing to try to answer questions and help you with everything from law enforcement to whatever may concern you. I will help you with whatever I can, from filing a police report to just listening if you are homesick, having problems with your boyfriends or girlfriends, etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if there is something I can do for you.
