Aberdeen Tobacco Prevention Coalition

The Aberdeen Tobacco Prevention Coalition has been in existence since August of 2003 and is comprised of staff and students from Northern State University, Presentation College, Aberdeen Public Schools, and Aberdeen Catholic Schools as well as individuals from Urban Indian Health, Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, American Cancer Society, Northern Alcohol Drug Referral and Information Center, Aberdeen Family Physicians Clinic, Aberdeen Police Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Department and the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee.

Since its inception, the Aberdeen Tobacco Prevention Coalition meets monthly and has provided information to members on policy issues, presentations to high school and college students including athletes on spit tobacco, and input to program coordinators on conducting educational programs on the Public Health Guidelines for treating tobacco use and dependence.
