Exercise is good for the body and the mind. Northern students, faculty and staff can get their exercise at the Dacotah Hall Wellness Center. A $175,000 renovation to the center was completed in June 2015!
The center was established in 2006 and is funded entirely by student activity fees. The more than 3,500-square-foot facility includes a gymnasium, fitness center and aerobic room.
The fitness center features a variety of strength training equipment and state-of-the-art cardio machines. These include treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes, a stair stepper, universal machines, benches, free weights, an isometrics curl/bicep machine, a chest fly machine, a chest multi press, a bicep/triceps machine, a rotary torso, a leg extension/curl and a versa bar.
Staff are available to conduct safety orientation sessions during regularly staffed hours. Students, faculty and staff must complete the 10-to 15-minute orientation before their ID card will be activated, allowing access to the facility.
