students will use previously learned vocabulary words to create a story
using a digital picture of themselves, typed text, and drawn illustrations. |

Upon completion of instruction, the students
will have:

Worked in groups to create a story that is passed
on from person to person.

Depicted written text through the creation of pictures.

Read their portion of the story orally.

| Procedural Activities |

Discuss what authors and illustrators do. Explain
that the students will become authors and illustrators.

As a class, decide on one main character and setting
from which the story will begin.

One student will start the story, and then pass it
on to another student. He or she will continue it and pass it on
to another student. This will continue until all of the students
have contributed to the story.

If necessary, students must use the vocabulary words
being studied in class.

The teacher will write down the story as it is being
told, or each student writes his or her piece on paper.

Teacher will take each child's picture using a digital
camera. These pictures will be inserted onto a document containing
the dialogue bubble.

Teacher or students will type in the text.

Print out each child's story piece and distribute.

Students will create a picture depicting their portion
of the overall story.

Students read their part of the story orally to the
class and share their drawings.
