Endangered Species Presentations

Lesson Summary      Students will select an endangered species, research it, and create a Power Point presentation to convince their audience that their animal is worth saving.  They should also design a plan to save their animal.

Lesson Objectives Upon completion of instruction, the students will have:
  1. Investigated the interaction of various species.
  2. Engaged in research and applied organizational and presentation skills.
  3. Created Power Point presentations.
Assessment Students will be assessed according to a rubric addressing the effectiveness of the Power Point presentation.
Technology to be Used Internet, word processing, Power Point, digital cameras
Other Materials A Presentation Packet including:  guidelines for presentations, daily schedule, scoring rubric
Procedural Activities
  1. Students complete a profile on many different types of endangered species.
  2. Students then choose one of  these species, research it, determine reasons the species is worth saving, and develop a plan for saving the animal. 
  3. Students put together a Power Point presentation with a minimum of five slides.
