| Lesson Summary |
This lesson focuses
on the Great Depression using the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.
Students will become familiar with the lifestyles of the 1930s, and select
one area of interest about which they will create a presentation.
Possibilities include sports, fashion, automobiles, baseball, and finances.
The Internet will be used a research tool, and Power Point will be used
as the presentation format. |

Students' presentations will be assessed on the
following categories: Internet citations, evidence of research, use
of Power Point and Microsoft Word, quality of presentation, quality of
communication skills, and relationship between literature and history. |

| Procedural Activities |

Discuss project requirements with students.

Introduce the historical period and the related novel
to be read. Give students a copy of the rubric and possible Internet
sites.

In pairs, students will work on a technological project
related to the historical period. They will gain approval for their
project from the teacher.

Students will present their project to the class.
