1. To provide background
information concerning the school community, the school plant, the
school staff, and the pupils in the school.
2. To accept the student
teacher as a professional person, to help him/her gain confidence, and
to assist in his/her development as a teacher.
3. To assist the student
teacher in planning, carrying out learning activities for large
groups, small groups, and for individual students.
4. To explain to the student
teacher policies of the school and the special facilities available.
5. To provide for the student
teacher's gradual progression to the assumption of major teaching
responsibilities as he/she progresses from observation to full-time
teaching.
6. To assist the student
teacher in analysis and critical evaluation of his/her practices,
competencies, and contributions of the student teacher to the
student's learning.
7. To provide a
written
evaluation in triplicate at least once a week. One copy is to be
retained; one copy is for the student teacher; and one copy is for the
university supervisor. The evaluation from the cooperating teacher and
the university supervisor should be signed by the student teacher.
8. To complete and share with
the student teacher a
Periodic Progress report once within the 5-6
week period.
9. To provide a
final
evaluation of the student teacher to be given to the University
Supervisor at the final visit as is required by Northern State and to
suggest to the university supervisor a "satisfactory" or
"unsatisfactory" recommendation.
