Beginning with EPSY 302,
students will include in their
electronic portfolios both optional and mandatory
artifacts from their courses. Also, in EPSY 302, students will reflect
upon their field experience and develop written goals for their next
field experience. Goals should focus on specific teacher behaviors
which can be measured or evaluated. At least one goal for each of
the five areas of the conceptual framework should be written. A plan should be established to
achieve these goals. The goals and steps for achievement will be the
check-out point of the class/field experience they have just completed
and the check-in point for the next class/field experience.
For example, a
student from EPSY 302 shares his/her goals for the next semester with
the instructor of EPSY 302 toward the end of the semester. The student
hands a copy of his/her goals and proposed steps to the morning block
faculty/secondary block faculty. Then the goals and steps are given to
the student’s
supervisor for the next field
experience.
Students from the junior
field experiences (either secondary or elementary pm) share copies of
their goals with the
university supervisor. This process serves as a focus for the
experience but does not exclude other issues and concerns which might
arise. Throughout the experience, the supervisor will check progress
and documentation of progress toward reaching goals with the students.
