Culturefest and Wacipi Events

Culturefest is a one-day celebration of the food, dress, customs and celebrations of a variety of cultures.
This cultural and culinary adventure will feature two sessions: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children in grades 1-12, and free for children under 6.
Culturefest will celebrate the 35 countries represented at Northern, as well as the diversity of culture and different heritages represented in the Aberdeen community. Strolling through the tables and booths, attendees will be able to learn about numerous countries. They will be treated to a variety of delectable international dishes. The event will also include various performances, games, face painting and photo opportunities.
This year’s event will feature live salsa music and dance by Salsabrosa starting at 7:30 p.m. The band has an extensive repertoire of Latin styles including Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha and Bolero. “Salsabrosa's performances are always a powerful celebration of the marvelously diverse community that our country has become,” according to

NSU’s Culturefest, which is open to the public, is coordinated by NSU organizations and Northern’s Office of International Programs, as well as a committee of passionate supporters of culture from the community. For general information about the event, contact Dr. Connie Ruhl-Smith.
