The Northern State University Children's Center does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, creed, religion, handicaps, or national origin.
The Children's Center, located in Lindberg Hall, provides childcare on a space-available basis for the children of Northern students, faculty and staff, and the community.
The center is licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services to care for a maximum of 78 children, 4 weeks to 6 years old. A preschool session featuring a developmentally appropriate curriculum is held daily for children 3 to 6 years old. The toddler program is designed to encourage development of motor and social skills.
The Children’s Center offers contracted childcare every weekday except Dec. 24-Jan. 1, all legal holidays, and when Northern cancels day classes because of bad weather.
Hours throughout the year are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Test week hours are 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
