Habitat
The Tasmanian Native Hen is found usually in cleared pasture and grasslands,
near newly planted crops and in areas where cleared areas have year round
water access. Occasionally, the bird can be found in open woodland along
tracks or clearings. Being flightless, it is also terrestrial. The bird
is not found in the wetter and deeply forested sections of South-West Tasmania.
