"The workshop will focus on teaching strategies designed to develop student understanding of the materials and processes of music including visual and aural analysis, sight-singing, melodic and harmonic dictation, and composition. Special emphasis will be given to creating a curriculum employing techniques and activities similar to those presented in the newly released Vertical Teams Guide for Music Theory published by the College Board. Terry Eder will be the instructor of this course, a choral conductor and teacher with over 30 years of experience at both the college and secondary levels. Dr. Eder is currently the Assistant Choir Director and AP Music Theory teacher at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas. He also serves as the Lead Teacher for the AP Music Theory Incentive Program sponsored by the O’Donnell Foundation, which involves music theory programs at 11 high schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex."
