The world premiere of Gian Carlo Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief was presented by the NBC Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Alberto Erede, at 10pm (EST) on Saturday, April 22, 1939, before an audience of 1500, in Studio 8H in New York's Radio City. The live broadcast was carried by the NBC-Blue network.
