Hradec Králové is a city in the Czech Republic with 91,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Hradec Králové Region. The historic center is around Velké Square, where all the most valuable buildings are. This area is well preserved and protected by law as an urban monument reservation. Hradec Králové is home to the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit which is the main landmark of Hradec Králové and the most important monument. The face of the modern city dates from the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century when many monumental representative buildings in the Art Nouveau and Functionalism styles were built here. Hradec Králové is one of the oldest cities in the Czech Republic. The combination of the historic and modern center makes it a complete textbook of architecture.
