A new regional sports complex construction update is available from NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff.
Barnett Center Addition
- Painting is nearing completion at the second level Barnett Center spaces – accent wall colors are now being painted.
- HVAC/plumbing/electrical equipment are being installed in mechanical rooms.
- Electrical and HVAC rough-in is nearing completion on first floor.
- Contractor is starting to hang drywall in the football locker room.
- Locker fabrication will begin in April and be installed in June.
- KONE is on site, and both of the Barnett Center elevators will be completed by the end of March.
- Metal Lux wall panels have been installed at the west deck of the Barnett Center addition at the bridge.
- Bridge shop drawings have been reviewed. Bridge is being fabricated and will be installed in the spring.
Football Stadium
- Fourth and fifth levels have been temporarily bubbled and framed, and are winter heated.
- Spray foam insulation on the interior side of all exterior walls is complete.
- Fifth level drywall mudding and sanding is complete.
- Priming and painting has begun on fifth level.
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing rough-ins are wrapping up on fourth level and drywall installation has begun on fourth level suites.
- Fourth level bar/lounge has glazing installed at exterior curtain walls and is watertight and temporarily heated for interior work.
- Third level loge – all interior restrooms, concessions, and back of house areas are all framed in and M.E.P. rough-in work is nearing completion.
- Third level loge – framing for ceilings at loge concourse is complete. Metal panel ceilings will be installed upon arrival.
- Work continues on second Level for all M.E.P. rough-in work at bathrooms and concessions.
- Mason is continuing to lay block interior CMU walls at restrooms and concessions on second level concourse.
- Mason continues installation of CMU block walls on first level service areas, mechanical rooms, etc.
Football Field
- All drainage, subgrade construction, and field curb has been installed. Now we wait until spring for top layer fine grade and turf roll-out/install.
- Work continued on the metal panel installation. East, north and south elevations are completed, and install crew is about 90 percent finished with the metal panels on the west façade of the grandstand.
- Upper EPDM roof system is installed. Metal parapet cap remains.
- Second level concourse EPDM roof system is installed. Metal parapet cap remains.
- Daktronics has begun erecting the structural steel frame for the football scoreboard. Installation to be completed by March 1, with installation of the rear metal panel cladding to follow.
- Temporary construction elevator will be disassembled Feb. 24 and shipped off site, so construction team can start building the ticket booth and Wolves Club VIP Entrance in this area.
- Southern Bleacher will install steel raker beams for the north end of the grandstand seating middle to late February.
- All remaining glazing (fourth and fifth levels and south curtain wall) will be installed by mid-February.
Softball Stadium
- Concrete contractors have finished the lower bowl seating pours, and have poured dugouts and dugout roofs.
- All concrete field walls and bullpen areas have been poured and are complete.
- Steel structure for the softball press box and suite is erected and moment connection testing was passed.
- All underground M.E.P rough-ins are installed at softball concessions/restroom and the concrete floor slab has been poured.
- Softball field subgrade drainage and field curb construction will all take place in the spring.
- CMU block at the softball restroom and concessions structure will begin on March 1.
