NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff has issued a campus construction update.

Regional Science Center

New:

  • Lawn irrigation piping
  • Terrace paver installation
  • North canopy metal soffit panel installation
  • Classroom furniture placement

Continuing:

  • Painting
  • Concrete paving and sidewalk work on the west side
  • North canopy metal soffit framing, soffit panel installation on south canopy
  • Exterior wall panel installation
  • Ceiling grid and tile work in lobby and north wing
  • Interior aluminum frame installation
  • Light base installation
  • Installation of marker boards, counter tops, toilet compartments, toilet accessories, doors and hardware
  • Installation of radiant panels, fixtures and piping in mechanical rooms
  • Duct work in mechanical rooms, grill and diffuser installation
  • Installation of sprinkler piping and head, pipe insulation and cabling
  • Controls work
  • Electrical: wire pulling, lighting controls and lights, camera rough-ins, equipment hookup, projector mount and device installation

Complete:

  • Bioswale excavation and drainage piping
  • Carpet installation in northwign classrooms and second-floor offices

Parking Lot

NSU will barricade the north entrance to the JFAC parking lot from the morning of June 19 through July 1. Trucks will enter and drive up the JFAC ramp and back up from there to the Jewett Science Center. The parking lot will be closed off during this time period. 

Heating Plant

Roof replacement is 90 percent complete.

JFAC Restroom Remodel
Demolition is complete and plumbing rough-ins have begun.

Krikac Brick Work
Tuck pointing is finished and a metal cap has been placed atop stone work. Concrete demolition around the building has begun. Weather has hampered progress.

McWelsh Hall
Carpet installation is 75 percent complete.

Barnett Center
Pool HVAC demolition is complete. The project will resume when new equipment arrives. Expected completion date is Sept. 1. Concrete floor demolition will begin soon for the wood recessed basketball court in the arena.
