NSU Facilities Manager Monte Mehlhoff has added several projects to this week's campus construction update.
Regional Science Center
Continuing work
- Bricklaying and transition membrane and spray foam application in the north wing
- Window installation on the south wing's west side
- Exterior metal panel installation on the east side
- Drywall application in first-floor restrooms
- Wall framing in the lobby, second floor south pods, second floor north ceilings and north canopy
- Drywall taping and other work throughout the building
- Painting in south wing
- Plumbing VAV hookups and heating main installation in both wings
- Pipe insulation
- Sprinkler piping installation on first floor south
- HVAC ductwork installation throughout the building
- Variable air volume system installation and work in the greenhouse mezzanine
- Electrical piping installation for lighting in the south wing, rough-ins in the north wing and lobby and wire-pulling
- Electrical generator is being set on the pad in the mechanical yard
- Controls contractors working throughout building
Upcoming projects
- Krikac tuck pointing and concrete replacement/restoration project to begin mid-May
- Heating plant flat roof replacement to begin mid-May
- Four Johnson Fine Arts center bathrooms that were not remodeled as part of original remodel/addition in 2015-16 will be remodeled this summer
- Built-up roof system on Student Center to be replaced with EPDM roof this summer
- Barnett Center arena will get new wood court flush with track – no more plywood reducer; new retractable hoops and a newly surfaced track – work to begin May 6 and be completed first week of September – arena will be closed for repairs entire summer
- Barnett Center Pool project – HVAC upgrade is in demolition phase – work to be completed Sept. 1, 2019 – this will provide better heating, cooling and ventilation in pool area
- We have secured funding and electrical engineer to provide campus backup power/transformer – work to be done after July 1, 2019, with completion early fall
- The current racquetball courts are under design phase to be remodeled into offices in the Barnett Center along with three new air handling unites, which will be a significant HVAC upgrade
The unfinished portion of the soccer complex/pavilion, including carpet, plumbing, cabinets and ceiling, will be completed next week and final-check items are nearing completion.
