Wolf Shoppe Sale

There will be a sale at the NSU Wolf Shoppe on Monday, June 4, and Tuesday, June 5. Get 20 percent off clothing and giftware.

Youth Leadership Forum

The 20th annual Youth Leadership Forum will be held June 3-7 on the campus of NSU.

Chinese Summer Camp

The Confucius Institute’s Second Annual K-5 Chinese Summer Camp will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. June 4-8 at NSU. The camp is open to ages 6-11.

Piano Duet Festival

The second annual Piano Duet Festival will be held June 4-8. Contact the NSU School of Fine Arts for more information.

2018 SD 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Camp

The Performing Arts Troupe is a theater arts educational experience for ages 13-18. The camp at NSU, set for June 10-16, includes performances in the Johnson Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. June 15 and 10 a.m. June 16.

Wolf Shoppe Closed June 29

The NSU Wolf Shoppe will be closed for inventory on Friday, June 29.

Gypsy Day Parade Registration Open

Online registration for the 103rd annual NSU Gypsy Day Parade is now open. Individuals and groups interested in entering the parade will be able to access the online form. Registration will include a $25 participation fee. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, with a start time of 9 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Wolves at the Movies.” For information, click here to read more, or contact the NSU Student Affairs office at 605-626-3007 or gypsydays@northern.edu.

Art Education Institute

The annual Art Education Institute, which offers professional development and learning for South Dakota teachers and administrators, runs July 16-19 on the NSU campus.

NSU Jazz, Voice Camps

NSU Jazz Camp and NSU Voice Camp will be held July 18-21 and are open to students in grades 7-12. At jazz camp, students will have the opportunity to play in various jazz groups, take lessons, learn about improvisation, enjoy social and recreational activities, and participate in nightly jam sessions. At voice camp, students can take voice lessons and classes exploring many vocal styles – classical, opera, jazz and musical theater – in a fun and creative way.

JFAC Gallery Exhibition

The Sharon Kagan exhibition in the JFAC Gallery will run until Aug. 15. Kagan is a multimedia artist who utilizes knitting, photography and drawing as the foundation of her personal lexicon. Kagan has a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA and a Master of Arts in Sculpture from Otis Art Institute, where she trained with Betye Saar and Germano Celant. This exhibition was been coordinated through a partnership with Katharine T. Carter & Associates. Click here to learn more about the exhibit and the artist.

COLLEGEpalooza is Aug. 28

This back-to-school celebration for NSU and Presentation College students is scheduled for Aug. 28 in downtown Aberdeen.

2018 Common Read Lecture is Nov. 14

Angie Thomas, author of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling book “The Hate U Give,” will deliver NSU’s 2018 Common Read Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. The event—Northern’s eighth annual Common Read Lecture—is free and open to the public. The award-winning “The Hate U Give” has received starred reviews from eight literary journals and has been optioned by Fox 2000 and Temple Hill Production. Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition

The Northern State University School of Fine Arts has announced that it will launch the first annual Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. The music performance competition will be open to juniors and seniors from high schools throughout South Dakota and surrounding states. Generous prizes will be offered for first, second and third place winners in four categories including piano, strings, voice and wind/percussion. The following athletic camps are scheduled at NSU:

NSU Men’s and Women’s Basketball Camps: Boys and Girls Skill Development Day Camp, June 4-7; Boys and Girls Shooting and Scoring Day Camp, June 4-7; Positionless Player Camp, July 9-12; Boys Team Camp, July 13-14.

NSU Volleyball Camps: Individual Skills Camp, June 11-12, grades 7-12; Hitter/Setter/Libero Camp, June 13, grades 9-12; Little Wolves Camp, June 21-22, grades 3-6.

NSU Wrestling Camps: Youth Camp, June 11-14; Team Camp, June 18-21.
