APD Training on Campus Today

On May 21, 2018, the Aberdeen Police Department Special Response Team will be conducting training from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The training will be near the 1200 block of South State Street at Jerde Hall, located on the NSU campus.

Digital Media Camp is May 29-31

This year’s NSU Digital Media Camp for fourth- through sixth-graders, sponsored by the Millicent Atkins School of Education, will be May 29-31, 2018. The aim of the camp is to teach kids about audio and video production by having them create several media projects. Registration is limited to the first 20 participants. More information, including the registration form, can be found online at the Digital Media Camp site.

Chinese Summer Camp is June 4-8

The Confucius Institute’s Second Annual K-5 Chinese Summer Camp will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. June 4-8 at NSU. The camp is open to ages 6-11, and the cost is $40 for the week. Space is limited. Register by May 21 by emailing confucius@northern.edu or calling 605-626-3293.

2018 Common Read Lecture Announced

Angie Thomas, author of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling book “The Hate U Give,” will deliver NSU’s 2018 Common Read Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. The event—Northern’s eighth annual Common Read Lecture—is free and open to the public. The award-winning “The Hate U Give” has received starred reviews from eight literary journals and has been optioned by Fox 2000 and Temple Hill Production. Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition

The Northern State University School of Fine Arts has announced that it will launch the first annual Friends of the Arts/NSU Young Artist Competition on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019. The music performance competition will be open to juniors and seniors from high schools throughout South Dakota and surrounding states. Generous prizes will be offered for first, second and third place winners in four categories including piano, strings, voice and wind/percussion.
