Students: Order Fall Textbooks starting Aug. 1

You can place your order for fall textbooks on the Wolf Shoppe website starting Aug. 1. Help the Wolf Shoppe comply with the CDC’s social distancing guidelines by placing your order and receiving your books this summer. The Wolf Shoppe will provide low cost, flat rate shipping of $5 – no matter the order size. You can have your books and Northern State University clothing shipped to your home before you arrive on campus!

Employee Assistance Plan

Benefits eligible staff: Please keep in mind that your benefits plans include free use of our Employee Assistance Plan. Every eligible staff member has five free visits available with a counselor. If you need assistance, please utilize this wonderful benefit, found at this link; the password is southdakota.

Campus Hours

Campus is closed to the public and most buildings are locked.

Student Center:

  • Open 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and closed on weekends. 

Wolf Shoppe:

Beginning June 1, these are the summer hours:

  • 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Post Office:

Beginning June 1, these are the summer hours:

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday

Dining Services:

  • Dining services, including POD Market and Einstein’s, is closed at least until July.

Johnson Fine Arts Center:

  • Open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Gypsy Day Parade registration opens June 1

This fall, NSU Wolves will celebrate the “Howling 2020s” during homecoming week, which takes place Sept. 21-26. The 106th annual Gypsy Day Parade set for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m. Parade registration begins June 1. Entrants will decorate their float base on the “Howling 2020s” theme. Read more here. Common Read                                                                                                                             

Chris Arnade, author of “Dignity: Seeking Respect in Backrow America,” will deliver the NSU Larry and Julie Poeppel Family Common Read Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Johnson Fine Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The book is available for purchase on the Wolf Shoppe website under “Trade Books” for $18.95. Customers can have the book shipped to their home or choose “Pick Up at Wolf Shoppe.” Since the Wolf Shoppe is closed through May 31, customers choosing “Pick Up at Wolf Shoppe” until then can pick it up at the NSU Post Office, open 9-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday.

Request Materials from the Library

You can now request physical materials from the Williams Library. If you are unable to locate an electronic version of an item you need, you can request the physical item to be pulled from the library’s collection. The item must be something the library owns, and NO interlibrary loans will be requested for physical materials. To request an item, email the title, author, your name and your mailing address to the library at reference@northern.edu. The librarians will pull items on Tuesdays and Thursdays, check them out to you, and mail to the address you provided in the email. To return the items, simply mail all items back with the return address label provided in the package.

Password Expiration Reminders

NSU Net Services is implementing password expiration reminders. Beginning four days prior to your password expiration date (which happens every six months), you will receive a daily email with instructions on how to change your password. You must be registered with Northern’s self-service password reset service in order to reset your password without contacting the Support Desk. If you are not registered, and your password expires after Support Desk hours, you may lose access to many services including D2L, Banner, Zoom, Microsoft O365, Library databases and campus WiFi until the next business day. If you have not registered for the self-service password reset service, please visit the Password Reset Page and select the Register or Change Info option.
