Welcome to the NSU News Update - providing information on events happening on campus or involving NSU students, staff and faculty.

Summer Hours

Summer hours have begun. Offices are expected to be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular office hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. will resume Monday, Aug. 13. Have a great summer!

Registration open for Digital Media Camp

Registration is open for this year’s Digital Media Camp for fourth- through sixth-graders at Northern State University, sponsored by the NSU Millicent Atkins School of Education. The camp will be May 29-31, 2018. The aim of the camp is to teach kids about audio and video production by having them create several media projects. Registration is limited to the first 20 participants. More information, including the registration form, can be found online at the Digital Media Camp site.

Eight inducted into Delta Mu Delta

The NSU School of Business inducted eight graduating seniors into the international scholastic honor society, Delta Mu Delta: Amanda Clemen, Ipswich; Chris Forster, Fort Pierre; Brianna Kuckelburg, Aberdeen; Michaela Liebl, West Fargo, N.D.; Shayna Lier, Stratford; Kristen Prosper, Aberdeen; Jacob Schweitzer, Sioux Falls; and Mackenzie Thielen, Prior Lake, Minn.

Rental Textbooks Due at the NSU Wolf Shoppe

Rental textbooks are due back to the NSU Wolf Shoppe on or before May 10. No late rentals will be accepted!

Volunteer Crossing Guards Needed

May Overby Elementary School is looking for afternoon crossing guards! Typically, a shift runs from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Contact Mike.Neubert@k12.sd.us if interested. This school is seeing an increase in traffic due to NSU construction projects. President Downs plans to cover another shift before elementary school gets out for the summer.

Chinese Summer Camp

The Confucius Institute’s Second Annual K-5 Chinese Summer Camp will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. June 4-8 at NSU. The camp is open to ages 6-11, and the cost is $40 for the week. Space is limited. Register by May 21 by emailing confucius@northern.edu or calling 605-626-3293.
