All NSU campus community members are encouraged to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms daily.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms

  • Employees who have symptoms of COVID-19 should:
    • Contact their health provider and follow the healthcare guidance of their heath provider. Relate to their health provider that they work on a campus and need to help prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19.
    • Stay home and self-quarantine
    • Inform roommates and/or family members with whom they share a residence and ask them to follow the What if I’ve been in Contact with Someone who is Sick? protocol.
    • Immediately notify their supervisor.
  • Students who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should:
    • Self-quarantine in their residence.
    • Inform roommates and/or family members with whom they share a residence and ask them to follow the What if I’ve been in Contact with Someone who is Sick? protocol.
    • Contact a healthcare provider. If you use NSU’s on-campus Avera Health Services, please call 605-626-7694 (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday). After hours contact Avera St. Luke’s at 605-622-8690 or download the AveraNOW app (App Store, Google Play) to connect with a provider 24/7.

 

If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19

Employees who have tested positive for COVID-19:

  • Employees who have a positive COVID-19 test or are confirmed by their health provider as having COVID-19 must:
    • Immediately notify their supervisor, as well as Susan Bostian in NSU Human Resources.
    • Isolate in their residence or a location approved by their healthcare provider for isolation.
    • Follow the healthcare guidance of their healthcare provider.
    • Comply with the S.D. Department of Health contact tracing.

Students who have tested positive for COVID-19:

  • Students who reside off campus and who have a positive COVID-19 test or are confirmed by their health provider as having COVID-19 must:
    • Isolate and return to their permanent residence or quarantine in their off-campus housing.
    • Follow the healthcare guidance of their healthcare provider.
    • Comply with the S.D. Department of Health contact tracing.
    • Inform roommates and/or family members with whom they share a residence and ask them to follow the What if I’ve been in Contact with Someone who is Sick? protocol.
    • Contact their faculty to arrange to continue classes remotely.
    • Follow the guidance of the S.D. Department of Health Coronavirus Quarantine and Isolation Calculator
    • Self-report their positive case at this site.
  • Students who reside on campus and who have a positive COVID-19 test or are confirmed by their health provider as having COVID-19 must:
    • Isolate and return to their permanent residence or relocate to a quarantine room and begin the housing isolation process as instructed by Residence Life.
    • Follow the healthcare guidance of their healthcare provider.
    • Comply with the S.D. Department of Health contact tracing.
    • Inform roommates and/or family members with whom they share a residence and ask them to follow the What if I’ve been in Contact with Someone who is Sick? protocol.
    • Contact their faculty to arrange to continue classes remotely.
    • Follow the guidance of the S.D. Department of Health Coronavirus Quarantine and Isolation Calculator
    • Self-report their positive case at this site.
