Dr. Steven Usitalo, professor of history, will speak at Wednesday evening's opening of the Great Plains Sociological Association Annual Conference on the campus of Northern State University. Usitalo’s talk, "Roma and Racial Science (or the Fate of the Roma and Sinti Peoples during the Holocaust)," will take place at 5 p.m. in the Lincoln Gallery in NSU's Lincoln Hall.

Several years of effort to gather the history of a substantial South Dakota ethnic group are coming to fruition with the grand opening of the South Dakota Germans from Russia Cultural Center.  The Center can be found in Beulah Williams Library on the campus of Northern State University and is open to the public during regular library hours.

NSU’s Beulah Williams Library will host a forum to discuss how individuals in smaller communities consume news – and how they protect themselves from misinformation  at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the Library Round Room. The event , which is free and open to the public, includes a panel of local communications professionals:
