Northern State University will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its two new residence halls at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, during the annual Gypsy Days celebration. Great Plains East and Great Plains West both opened this fall on the Northern campus. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held on the Great Plains East Patio. Read more here.



Northern State University's Constitution Day 2018 will take place on Monday, Sept. 17. All day, people can enjoy the hundreds of flags flown around town, courtesy of the Exchange Club. On campus, there will be a display in the NSU Beulah Williams Library, flags and decorated offices – and even Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty walking around. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the NSU Student Center, the League of Women Voters will register people to vote and the Dacotah Prairie Museum will have a display.

Northern State University will say goodbye to Lindberg Hall by celebrating J.C. Lindberg Day on April 30. J.C. Lindberg Day, hosted by the Lindberg Hall Council, will be held 1-3 p.m. at the hall and will include yard games, brick painting and walking tacos. The event is free and open to the public. The building will be taken down in May in preparation for a new residence hall in that location, which will be completed by July 2018.

Northern State University will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its two new residence halls at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 20. The ceremony will take place at the location of one of the planned residence halls, south of the Mewaldt-Jensen Building on the NSU campus. The groundbreaking is open to the public. Following the ceremony, Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours will be held on campus. That event will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the NSU Student Center Centennial Rooms.
