NSU Foundation

A foundation to build on.
The Northern State University Foundation (NSUF) was established in 1969 as a non-profit, self-supporting organization established solely for the benefit of Northern State University and its students.

The Northern State University Foundation is a key partner with the university in building and sustaining excellence among students and faculty, and fueling discovery in important areas on campus. The NSUF accomplishes this by raising and managing gifts from individuals and organizations. Through collaboration with university leaders and development officers, the NSUF staff ensures that fundraising activities are consistent with the university’s highest priorities and the donor’s philanthropic intentions.

The Impact of Giving

Last year the NSU Foundation contributed $19,175,114 to Northern State University, of which $14,314,970 was building commitments. Thanks to the gifts of generous supporters, more than $3.2 million was distributed in the form of student scholarships. In total, more than 2,152 scholarships were awarded with an average award of $1,450 per student.

Help support our Student Emergency Relief Fund for COVID-19

The Northern State University Foundation has established the Covid-19 Student Emergency Relief Fund.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Northern students are facing job loss, child care expenses and lack of internet access and other digital resources after spring semester instruction was moved online.

This fund will provide immediate grants to students to help them stay enrolled and return to Northern. Donors, supporters, alumni and community - please help in any way you can.

Students Say Thank You

There are many worthy causes to support. Few, however, have the far-reaching effect of a transformed mind. What more worthy investment could there be?
