ABERDEEN, S.D. – Blake Day has been named Senior Vice President of the NSU Foundation.

In this role, Day will lead the Foundation’s development effort under the direction of the President/CEO. He will work closely with the Director of Athletics and Deans of the College of Arts and Sciences, Millicent Atkins School of Education, School of Business and School of Fine Arts. Day will also be responsible for managing principal and leadership level fundraising activities to raise private support and provide leadership for the Foundation.

Day comes to NSU from South Dakota State University, where he has worked as Associate Athletic Director for Development since 2017. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Athletic Director of Development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Day also previously worked for three years at NSU, serving as Director of Athletic Development and Marketing and Assistant Athletic Director for Development and Marketing.

“I am beyond excited to return to the NSU Foundation, the beautiful campus at Northern State and the community of Aberdeen,” Day said. “I am extremely grateful to Zach Flakus and the hiring committee for the opportunity to serve NSU and all of the university’s students, faculty/staff, alumni and supporters. I look forward to reconnecting with the many great people associated with NSU and meeting many new faces as well, as we look to take Northern State University to greater heights.”

Day will begin in his new position at Northern on July 6.

“Blake will be a tremendous asset to Northern and the NSU Foundation,” said Zach Flakus, NSU Foundation President and CEO. “He has a strong leadership background and has been very successful in fundraising, managing people, special projects, and already has deep connections in Aberdeen and the region. We are most excited about him sharing his rich athletic development background with other departments and areas of campus. His knowledge and skills will be extremely beneficial for NSU’s Deans and Directors.”
