ABERDEEN, S.D. –  The Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery will play host to Sharon Kagan’s art exhibition through Aug. 15.

Kagan is a multimedia artist who utilizes knitting, photography and drawing as the foundation of her personal lexicon.

Kagan has a B.A. from UCLA and an M.A. in sculpture from Otis Art Institute, where she trained with Betye Saar and Germano Celant. Between undergraduate and graduate school she worked as a core member of “The Dinner Party,” Judy Chicago's seminal feminist installation project.

Kagan's collaboration, “Sweater,” with world renowned artist Tim Hawkinson received critical acclaim. She is a Brody Arts Fund Fellowship Award recipient and was a California Arts Council artist-in-residence. Kagan lives and works in Los Angeles. She exhibited at Elga Wimmer Gallery in New York in 2017 and will exhibit at Lichtundfire Gallery in New York in 2018.

The exhibition is being coordinated through a partnership with Katharine T. Carter & Associates.

The JFAC Gallery is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
