Student researchers presenting their research

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University has awarded grant funding to three undergraduate research projects.

Megan Dockter and Therese Haberman received a Northern Edge Award for their project, "Clarinet Trio Recording Project and Performances Around South Dakota." Dockter, a music education (instrumental) major from Watertown, and Haberman, from Bottineau, N.D., are applying to perform at the South Dakota Music Education Association conference. The Northern Edge Award is a new undergraduate scholarship geared toward students in under-represented disciplines or projects that may not normally be eligible for other funding.

Ryan Clay has received an Undergraduate Competitive Research Grant for his project, titled “Expression, Purification, and Characterization of a Novel Insect Cuticle-Like Protein with Chitin and Graphene Binding Domains." Clay is a biotechnology major from Aberdeen.

Taite Hensley has also received an Undergraduate Competitive Research Grant for his project, titled, "Pitching Efficiency and Strength in Relation to Risk of Injury and Velocity." Hensley is a human performance and fitness major from Kelso, Wash.
