ABERDEEN, S.D. (Aug. 1, 2017) – Northern State University is offering something new this year at the Brown County Fair – a chance to win money to attend Northern.

NSU is giving away $7,000 in scholarships for fall 2018. That’s seven $1,000 scholarships, or one for each day of the fair, which runs Aug. 14-20 at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

“We’re excited to offer these scholarships in recognition of the important partnership between Northern State University and the community of Aberdeen,” said Dr. Jeremy Reed, vice president of enrollment management and student affairs. “We encourage high school students and their families, from all across the region, to stop by our booth and visit with faculty and staff about their college search. I think people will find a lot of exciting things are happening around campus.”

For a chance to win a scholarship, stop by Northern’s booth at the fair and fill out an NSU Learn More card. Northern will be set up in booth 00L, located just inside the Expo doors. The booth will have a different theme each day:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 16: Fine Arts Day
  • Thursday, Aug. 17: School of Education Day (kids day at the fair)
  • Friday, Aug. 18: High School Dual Credit Day
  • Saturday, Aug. 19: Athletics Day
  • Sunday, Aug. 20: Alumni Day

Promotional items and giveaways will vary throughout the week.

Scholarships are for the fall 2018 semester at Northern State University. Full-time, degree-seeking fall 2018 freshmen, transfer, graduate and online/distance students are eligible.

The scholarship drawing will be held Aug. 31, 2017. Seven winners will be randomly selected and announced via NSU social media.
