Thielbar, a music major with a minor in business administration and a certificate in arts administration, is a soprano and plays the clarinet. She will perform "The Swan" from Carnival of the Animalsby Camille Saint-Saens; "Porgi Amor" from Le nozze de Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart; “Chanson Triste Op. 2, no. 4” by Henri Duparc; “Le manior de Rosemonde” by Henri Duparc; “Widmung Op. 25, no. 1” and “Schneeglöckchen Op, 79, no. 26” by Robert Schumann; “Arabesques” by Paul Jeanjean; “Calm is the Night” and “Reward” by John Jacob Niles.

Thielbar has studied under Drs. Marla Fogderud, Audrey Miller, Darci Bultema and Alan LaFave during her time at NSU. She will graduate from NSU in May. She hopes to work in a professional music office some day and plans to go to graduate school to get an M.A. in arts administration or arts management at some point.

“I chose Northern for their music program! The end of my senior year of high school had been fast approaching and I didn't know where I was going. I was the drum major my senior year of high school and the NSU Marching Wolves came to the Tri-State Area Band Festival in Luverne, where I met Dr. Boyd Perkins. That was when I realized I could still be in marching band in college,” said Thielbar.  “March rolled around and I hadn't made a decision about where I was attending and then we had our clinician concert, and Dr. Boyd Perkins was our guest conductor!  It was then that he suggested I come up to Aberdeen for a tour and audition for a music scholarship.  I came to Aberdeen at the end of April 2014, and that is when I fell in love with Northern.”
