Striving Solo Parent Scholarship

Deadline: March 14, 2024

Summary: Offers financial relief to single parents pursuing higher education. To be eligible for the award, you must be a single parent, and:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited university or college within the United States for the Spring 2024 semester
  • Be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0

Howard Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: March 21, 2024

Summary: Applicants must be residents of Brown County OR plan to attend Northern State University regardless of where they live. Requires application, page one of the federal income tax return, and a transcript. Scholarships up to $3,000 available.

SD Bankers Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: March 29, 2024

The SD Bankers Foundation is offering five scholarships to students attending a South Dakota college. These include one $4,000 scholarship, three $3,000 scholarships and one $1,500 scholarship that are available to college juniors (seniors beginning fall 2024) who have expressed an interest in a career in banking or finance. This may include business, finance, IT, cybersecurity, HR, marketing, etc., as long as the expressed interest is in the banking or finance industry.

Learner’s Annual Online Learning Innovator Scholarship 

Deadline: April 1, 2024 

The Learner’s Annual Online Learning Innovator Scholarship has $1,000 Scholarships available to all students actively using online platforms, tools, and resources to further learning and knowledge application. Open to all high school senior, undergraduate, and graduate students.

Critical Teaching Needs Scholarship 

Deadline: April 15, 2024 

  • Agree in writing to stay in South Dakota and work in a critical teaching need occupation for five years after graduating from a participating postsecondary institution; 
  • Agree, through a promissory note, that failure to abide by the employment requirement above will result in the scholarship being converted into an interest-bearing loan;
  • Attend a participating institution as an undergraduate enrolled in your final two years of postsecondary education and be fully admitted in an elementary or secondary education program at the institution;
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident;
  • Have a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale and an average of 2.8 GPA for all major coursework.

Summary: Applicants must be enrolled in a business program. Requires an online application and a 500-word essay on "Why do you want to start a business?"

Completing the Dream Scholarship Program

Summary: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and enrolled in an accredited college or university with a cumulative grade average of 2.75 or higher. Requires an online application and a brief two-minute video statement on "How will your education benefit you, your family, and your community?"

Rudy Webster Family & Community Scholarship

Deadline: June 30, 2024
Summary: Applicants must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a program consistent with the importance of providing equal access to all to the civil justice system. Applicants must write a 500-word essay on one of the questions provided; be enrolled as an undergraduate or in their final year of high school; and be 17 or older.

Dakota Corps Scholarship Program

Deadline: Varies

Summary: The Dakota Corps Scholarship Program is now open! Students can log in to the new scholarship application site to review the scholarship library, which has a list of all available scholarships offered by the South Dakota Board of Regents.

To be considered for the scholarship you must: 

  • Have graduated from an accredited South Dakota high school with a GPA of 2.8 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Home school students will be allowed to provide supplemental information to qualify if the information for this requirement is not available.
  • Have 27 ACT composite or superscore or greater (or the SAT equivalent).
  • Agree in writing to stay in South Dakota and work in a critical need occupation after graduation for as many years as the scholarship was received plus one year, or scholarship funds will convert to a loan.
  • Apply for the Dakota Corps Scholarship for a school period that begins within one year of high school graduation, or within one year of release from active duty of an active component of the armed forces.
  • Be an incoming freshman at a participating South Dakota college as an undergraduate student in a program that will prepare the student to work in a critical need occupation.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or national

Innovation in Education Scholarship

Summary: LA Tutors provides students who showcase their creativity and make positive impacts with a $500 Innovation in Education scholarship. On an ongoing monthly basis, this scholarship is open to all currently enrolled high school, college, and graduate students who showcase their creativity while helping those around them (whether that be in a creative fundraiser, an inventive new app, series of blog posts on a particular theme, or another idea). 

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in high school or college
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (or equivalent)
  • Must be a citizen of, permanent resident of, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada

Summary: Applicant must be a South Dakota resident planning to pursue a career that supports protection and enhancement of our natural resources and environment, the solid waste industry and/or related fields. Requires three letters of reference and a cover letter that contains required material.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $7,500 over four years.
