ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Travis Netzer will hold a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in Krikac Auditorium. 

Netzer, a lecturer of tuba and euphonium at NSU, will perform a tuba recital that blends classical and popular music. He will combine more traditional performance repertoire with “rock tuba,” in which he uses guitar distortion pedals and loops stations to perform covers of rock tunes. 

The traditional pieces will include works transcribed for tuba, such as “Sinfonia” by G.B. Pergolesi, “Gigue” by Jean-Marie Le Clair, a suite of pieces by Edvard Grieg, the “Prelude” from Bach Cello Suite No. 6, and the Chaminade flute “Concertino.”  

The popular music will include songs by The White Stripes, AC/DC, the Black Keys and more.
