  • “If I would go back in time to meet my teenage self, living in Albania, I am convinced she wouldn’t believe me where life would have taken her. My mind was set in stone to pursue my undergraduate degree in Europe, until the day I received an email from Northern State University!

     

    This was not the first time an American university reached out to me. I decided to go through the process. In less than two months, I had everything I needed to start this new chapter across the ocean. I packed my life, said goodbye to my loved ones, and came to study at Northern.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Gov. Noem announced support for a new Business and Innovation Center at Northern State University in today’s budget address. The facility will also provide a new on-campus home for South Dakota State University’s accelerated nursing program, which is currently housed in Northern’s Mewaldt-Jensen building, and a welcoming front door to campus for Admissions and the community.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Dakota Prairie Youth Orchestra will present their first ever concert on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. in Krikac Auditorium on the campus of Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. The concert is free and open to the public.

    Under the direction of Dr. Christopher Stanichar, NSU Assistant Professor, DPYO will perform Kabalevsky’s “Dance and Toccatina, Orange Blossom Special,” and a charming arrangement of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” Also on the program is “Escapade for Strings” by Aberdeen composer, John Cacavas.   • ABERDEEN, S.D. – On Saturday, Dec. 11, 94 students will graduate from Northern State University at its 2021 winter commencement.

    The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. Delivering the commencement address will be Dr. Kristi Bockorny, associate professor of management and marketing, the 2021 NSU Foundation Faculty Excellence Award. Student speaker will be Jacob Swanson, 2021-22 president of the Student Government Association.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Starting Monday, Dec. 6, artist Aaron C. Packard will have an exhibition on display in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

    The exhibition, “Hyper-Photomontage,” will be on display through Feb. 4, 2022. A closing reception will take place 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, in the JFAC Gallery.

  • ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., recognizes scholarship winners for 2021, including the WolfPACT Scholarship and Dual Credit Scholarship.

    The WolfPACT is the largest guaranteed, four-year scholarship in South Dakota. Students entering their freshman year at NSU are eligible for various funding amounts based on their ACT scores and GPA.
